Audio and Pointer problems in SuSE 11.3

V I D E O

Installing SuSE 11.3 x86_64 on a members computer, I was not able to get the internal video card to work in KDE. Hans checked on the SuSE mailing list and found they were having problems with drivers on some cards. After trying to get a new driver with no luck I decided to try and external card and that took care of the problem.

POINTING DEVICE L O C K I N G the computer

Both a USB and PS2 tracball would lock up the computor in X-Windows [KDE] in Suse 11.3. Having spent more time than I wanted on it I installed 11.2 and everything works ok in 11.2 with the external video card. Rick sent me this link afterwards which should help anyone with pointer device locking up the computer.

Note worthy, I installed 11.3 on two laptops with no problems.

Thanks to Hans Krueger and Rick Gatewood for their help.
